Activity For Kids:

Gross motor robot movement game

I like this activity because it practices your kid's gross motor skills, it teaches them to follow directions, and it's cheap and easy to do.

It’s also very simple: You just write commands on popsicle sticks, and tell your kids you’re going to play a game where they “move like a robot”.

This activity is inspired by ideas from Gross motor robot movement game.

This activity is great to teach your kids:

Gross motor activities include activities that works the large muscles, such as walking, running, throwing, lifting, kicking, etc. These skills also relate to body awareness, reaction speed, balance and strength.

Cognitive activities is educational play and is vital for your toddler's cognitive development – that is, your child's ability to think, understand, communicate, make memories, imagine and work out what might happen next.

Step 1

Write one command on each popsicle stick.

Examples: go forward five steps, move in a circle, dance break, sit down, stand up.

Step 2

Read one command at a time to your kids.

Pick a stick, or ask your kid to pick a stick, then read the command to them. Show them how to move like a robot.

At the same time they would be able to practice counting (the steps they take), directions (following my directions and moving forward, backward, left and right), and shapes (walking the path of a certain shape).
