Activity For Kids:

Sunscreen painting science activity

I bet kids would be more willing to wear sunscreen after doing this activity. It really shows them the effects of sunscreen and the sun. Plus it's a simple and low supply activity that's educational too.

This activity is inspired by ideas from Sunscreen painting science activity.

This activity is great to teach your kids:

Fine motor skills involve movement of the smaller muscle groups in your child's hands, fingers, and wrists.

Developing fine motor skills will help your child to write and prepares her for school. But it will also help your children with everyday tasks like eating, and dressing themselves.

Science experiments are fun to do for kids and also teaches them a lot of skills such as interacting with the world around them and understanding how things work.

Step 1

Pour some sunscreen onto a paper or regular plate

Step 2

Supply the dark construction paper and the sunscreen on the plate to your kids with the paintbrushes

Step 3

Tell them to paint a picture with the sunscreen on the dark paper

Step 4

Lay the pictures out in bright sunlight, secured with rocks on the corners

Step 5

Leave the pictures out in the sunlight for about 2 hours

Step 6

Talk to your kids about how the pictures have faded because there's no sunscreen on that spot and how it's darker where the sunscreen was

This simple art project will wow your kids and show them just how important proper sun protection can be. And we’ll talk a little bit about how sunscreen works.
